Culture in Tarragona
In Tarragona, you can find all sorts of cultural expressions and experience them fully by visiting museums, going to the cinema or the theatre, concerts and sporting events, among others.

Festivals and traditions
Tarragona offers its visitors a wide range of traditional festivals in which the locals show large enthusiasm, during these popular cultural days at all the streets and squares in the city.
The year begins with the magic of the Three Wise Men, with Carnival arriving in February; in April, it’s the traditional festival of Sant Jordi (St George’s Day) and, in June, it’s Sant Joan that celebrates the summer solstice; in July, it’s the International Firework Contest of Tarragona and, in August, Sant Magí, the city’s small festival and, in September, it’s the large city festival of Santa Tecla. Another important event in the city is the Castells competition on the first Sunday in October.
All the music genres have their place in the city.
To enjoy all the great classics of symphonic music and the performances, you must go to the Congress Centre of Tarragona or to the Camp de Mart, where the International Music Festival of Tarragona takes place. Besides that, the Dixieland International Festival and the Underground Blues Festival are two events of note.
Film and Theatre
Tarragona offers a very interesting theatre programme at the Teatre Metropol, with shows for all tastes and ages. The Mostra de Teatre Jove and the International Theatre Festival are two examples of the quality of the performances. Camp de Mart is also a theatre stage in the outdoors during spring and summer.
